Year 11 - Leaving Arrangements

Fri 09 Jun 2023
Dear Parent/Carer

Year 11 Leaving Arrangements June 2023

As the GCSEs draw to a close, I wanted to write to you to outline the leaving arrangements for our Year 11 students.

Firstly, I wanted to thank you for your fantastic, unwavering support during your child’s time with us here at Outwood Bydales. The year group have conducted themselves with unprecedented levels of commitment to their studies, under the most difficult circumstances; we are so proud of them!

Their warm, genuine support of each other, and their willingness to grab hold of every learning opportunity we have offered has been completely awe-inspiring. The year group have approached all aspects of their work with excellent focus, and I have no doubt that your work at home, coaxing them to revise systematically, alongside encouraging attendance at all the after-school Enrichments, has made all the difference.

Thank you so much for making arrangements for your child to attend our numerous Revision Breakfasts Sessions, ahead of each morning GCSE examination. We’ve had an average attendance of 94% across all of the sessions and this could not have happened without the fantastic teamwork between students, teachers and parents/ carers alike.

Leaving Date - Assembly and Breakfast
All students are expected to attend the academy until Monday 19 June and must wear their full uniform during this period. There will be a leavers breakfast and assembly on the morning of Monday 19 June. Students will leave at 10am after the assembly and breakfast.

Students should wear their full uniform on that day and bring a spare shirt for signing. Leavers hoodies will be given out during the assembly.

Any students sitting the statistics exam in the afternoon of Monday 19 June can remain in the academy until the exam. Statistics students will be expected to do self study in the LRC until their masterclass at 11.00am.

Uniform Donations
If you are able to donate any items of school uniform or PE Kit to the school these would be very welcome and can be brought into school on the students’ final day. Many families are facing financially challenging times and any uniform items we can give to current, and incoming students, will be very welcome.

Lunch Accounts
Students who have exceeded the funds in their lunch accounts need to ‘clear’ any outstanding lunchtime debts via our Robertson’s catering team.  Please take an opportunity to log into your child’s iPay account and check their final balance.

Lockers
Students should empty their lockers by Friday 16 June, as there will NOT be an opportunity to visit lockers on the day of the Leavers’ Assembly.

Prom at Gisborough Hall
The Y11 Prom will be held at Gisborough Hall on Thursday 29 June.  Students can arrive at the prom from 6.00pm and will leave no later than 11.00pm.  Please ensure that transport home is arranged for this time.

Results Day
Results day will be Thursday 24 August 2023 and students can collect their statement of results from the Main Hall between 9.00am and 11.00am.

Students who are unable to collect their results can nominate a friend or family member to collect them on their behalf. A signed letter from the student confirming that they give permission must be provided and the nominated person must bring a form of photo identification with them. The results will not be released without these things in place.

No results will be given out by telephone or email under any circumstances. Any results that haven’t been collected by 11.00am will be posted to the student at the home address we have on file.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families well and wish your child all the very best for a bright future.  The Year 11 students are a genuine credit to their parents and families, not just for their studious approach and resilience, but for their warmth and friendliness too.

Kind regards, as ever, on behalf of all the teachers and staff at Outwood Academy Bydales.

Seana Rice, Principal
