Partial School Closure: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic - Year 9 and Year 10 - Tuesday 29 November 2021

Mon 29 Nov 2021
Dear Parents/Carers,

Partial School Closure: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

The health, safety and welfare of our students, staff, families and the community are at the forefront of the decisions we make as a school.

In light of the staff absence we have faced so far this week and will face again on Tuesday 30 November 2021, we cannot safely accommodate all students in the academy. We have made the difficult decision to carry out a partial closure for Y9 and Y10 on Tuesday 30 November 2021

Students will return to the academy on Wednesday 1 December 2021. Should staffing levels change ahead of Wednesday, I will again be in touch with you by 1pm on Tuesday.

Home Learning

I appreciate that this will be a concern to you as we have not had to take this decision this academic year following the previous stint of partial closures during the last academic year.

We have a strong plan in place for home learning on Google Classroom on Tuesday 30 November 2021. Students should be up and learning by 8.25am by accessing the tutor time link which will be shared by Mr Beacham in the morning. They should then go to their Google Classroom and then follow their normal timetable for the day, accessing lessons as they show on their timetable. Lessons will be live, with some teacher input followed by student activities. Students will have work to complete and hand in via Google Classroom.

All students are now aware of how to access Google Classroom and have their login and password details. Should you need any support with Google Classroom or internet access then please contact
Miss Peacock: g.peacock@bydales.outwood.com.

Hard copies of work can be collected from reception for subjects which will allow students who aren’t able to access online lessons to still complete work which students will be doing in the online lessons.

Free School Meal Parcel

As we are partially closing for 1 day to Y9 and Y10 students, and having made the difficult decision late this afternoon, we will not be able to supply all students with a food parcel as we did during lockdown last academic year. Please let us know, by contacting the academy on 01642 818200 or by emailing enquiries@bydales.outwood.com if you would like further information or require support with this.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support at this time. If you have any concerns or questions, do not hesitate to get in touch with the academy or by emailing the enquiries address: enquiries@bydales.outwood.com.

Yours sincerely

Seana Rice
