Learning Environment

Our building was constructed in 2008 as a Specialist Technology College for the former Bydales School and was purpose built for learning in the 21st century. When Bydales School was put into Special Measures by Ofsted in 2013 it was taken over by Outwood Grange Academies Trust.

After years of hard work and dedication by students and staff we proudly became an Outstanding school rated by Ofsted in January 2018.

The school has undergone a major transformation over the past few years with Associate Executive Principal Andrew Wappat focusing on improving the quality of teaching and learning for his 800 + students and ensuring they have the best possible environment to learn in.

There are specialist facilities for all subjects, including:

Science department
Music technology suite with recording studio
Drama studio
Design and Technology
Learning Resource Centre
Sporting facilities including gym suite and tennis courts

Each classroom has its own interactive whiteboard and there are many IT rooms available across the academy. Our excellent sporting facilities include a fitness suite, sports hall, tennis courts and large open sports fields.

In 2019 we plan to extend our PE changing rooms and we are constantly investing on upgrading our school to keep up with the latest technology and ensure the students have a wonderful environment to learn in.
