Y11 English, maths, science, MFL and humanities Revision Evening - 17 September

Y11 English, maths, science, MFL and humanities revision evening Monday 17 September 6-7pm

As you may have seen this year, students at Outwood Academy Bydales achieved the best ever GCSE results in the history of the school for the fourth year running. For example, 77% of students achieved a grade 9-5 (broadly equivalent to the previous A*-B grades) in both English and maths, and 89% a grade 9-4 (A*-C) in both. On average every Y11 student achieved 4/5th of a GCSE grade higher than national expectations across all of their subjects, in terms of progress made from primary school. As ever, last year we had huge support from parents and carers, who helped our students achieve these outstanding results by supporting them at home, encouraging homework completion, attendance at Enrichment and critically, starting a revision plan early. This year we are hoping to have the same fantastic response again from students and from their families.

We would like to invite you to a joint English, Maths, Science, MFL and Humanities revision evening in school on Monday 17 September, starting at 6pm. The evening will consist of a presentation on the work your son/daughter will be doing within lessons in the approach to their summer GCSE exams in 2019 and what study will be expected to be completed at home. Miss Conroy, Mrs Charlton, Mrs Emmett and Ms Hansford will discuss the type of tasks students will be expected to complete at home this year in preparation for their exams and the ways in which we can support students to strengthen their understanding.

We will include a brief demonstration on how to use all of the revision materials that students have/will be given from their core subjects. After the meeting there will be a chance to speak to teachers and the Y11 Learning Manager, Mr Burton, to answer any questions that you have in regards to the GCSE subjects and support available. Refreshments will be provided on the evening and students will receive a pack of resources to help students revise at home.

Your support as always is greatly appreciated and we look forward to meeting you soon.

Yours faithfully

Andrew Wappat
