Bydales Big Bash! - 22 March

The first ever ‘Bydales Big Bash!’ was a fantastic success on Thursday evening, with a packed audience and an awesome showcase for student musical talent and organisational skills! Y10 BTEC Performing Arts (Music) students, as part of their course, are required to plan, organise and perform a complete music concert from start to finish…themselves! From advertising to front-of-house to lighting to PA sound system to actually getting up on stage and blowing everyones’ socks off!

There were excellent guest slots by our Ukele Choir, Y9 BTEC Music students and alumnus Annie Lince too.

The packed audience couldn’t fail to be impressed! A brilliant ‘team’ atmosphere prevailed with students celebrating successes with each other, providing encouragement and support, and working so well collaboratively to truly enjoy the occasion. To see how far students have come with their musical talent, resilience and confidence when performing to a large audience was a delight to behold!

It was great to welcome back alumni too, many coming to see younger siblings perform, to help with sound, to support with rehearsals and to get up on stage and provide some further inspiration.

More details to follow, including the set list, credits and ever more photos. Keep checking back to this news item. Well done everyone, incredibly proud of you all!

Special thanks to all the teachers in their supportive roles, and in particular to Mrs Trenholm, Miss Thompson and Miss Mitchell, and to all who came along to make the night a great success. Thank you!

We are also extremely grateful to the Vegware Community Fund for their generous donation of free biodegradable cups for the interval refreshments, meaning more more could be raised! We are committed to recycling at the academy, have recently had the catering company install bottle recycling machines, following lobbying by Student Voice. We’ve even had the Mayor of Redcar & Cleveland, Cllr Karen King in recently promoting a reduction of single use plastics.
