3 more of our Year 11 Leavers 2017, Annalise, Chloe and Nicole graduated on Wednesday with the National Citizenship Service (NCS) The Graduation Ceremony was held in Middlesbrough, and follows the girls (and other alumni across Redcar & Cleveland) getting involved in the latest October half-term opportunity. There was an outward bound residential in the Lake District at the start of the week, then some training at Prior Pursglove, followed by several weekends of volunteering on their social action project to renovate Errington Woods Park.
Students from across the Borough celebrated their achievements. Julie Donaldson, Zetland FM spoke at the event (and previously interviewed students on her radio show about their NCS work) Our own governor, Cllr Karen King, Mayor of Redcar & Cleveland presented.

We are huge advocates of NCS, and are determined to help inspire as many of our current Year 11s to spend four weeks of their summer holidays 2018 getting an experience of a lifetime! NCS students spend two weeks away on residentials, including outwood bound activities, and then building knowledge and skills at use of media, film, public speaking, confidence and leadership, ahead of two weeks planning and implementing social action projects. Students genuinely leave with even greater resilience and understanding of their numerous skills and talents, and hopefully determined to continue with volunteering, or indeed one day working within the voluntary sector. Many return to NCS in support and leadership roles on future residentials and local projects.
