We are delighted to announce that, following work by our Student President candidates during their campaigns in September 2017, and at a meeting on Friday 29 September with John Atkin, Director of Stagecarriage, there will be a new bus service being trialled from the Mickledales, Redcar to/from Outwood Academy Bydales.
This Stagecarriage Service will be 201, and starts on Monday 9 October 2017
Fares are 80p each way, and students will need to give their money to the staff member on arrival at the bus bay with the academy grounds in the morning, and again when departing at 2.35pm.
By operating this route, on a trial basis for six months, it is hoped it will then become a permanent service where students they pay the driver in the usual way. We also hope this will reduce overcrowding on the existing Arriva local bus service, and reduce the volume of parental traffic from the Mickledales direction, reducing traffic issues on Churchill Drive, and freeing up more space in the school car park.
These details will be shared in a newsletter to parents on Friday 6 October.
Thank you to Adam, Keira, Emma and Scarlett for all your work supporting the academy and Stagecarriage to make this happen.
