We begin the election process for our Student Voice President 2017-2018 this week, with the four candidates leading assemblies, giving presentations on their campaign messages from Tuesday – Friday to the whole school! Candidates this year, are Adam Williams (Y11), Keira Watson (Y10), Scarlett Kacperski (Y10) and Emma Wollaston (Y10)
After successfully applying for the positions against a strong field, they received their campaign budgets before the summer holidays, and have been working hard appointing their campaign teams and developing their campaigns. We look forward to seeing how much imagination their have used, in an attempt to secure the Student President position!

Our Presidential Elections are also a way to ensure our entire student body are reminded each year of the British electoral system, one of the most democratic processes in the world. We hope, by mirroring general and local elections, in terms of processes such as speeches, campaigning, and the polling card/voting process, students will ALL make their voice heard in UK elections in the future. We are grateful as ever to Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council for the loan of voting booths and boxes, and for the Mayor, Cllr Karen King, for acting as the Returning Officer at the scheduled Inauguration Ceremony.
