It was fantastic to host our second of two Year 8 Graduation Ceremonies yesterday! Parents, grandparents and siblings were able to join in the celebrations, as well as children from Errington and Wheatlands Primaries, as we marked the final week of our Year 8’s KS3 studies, before they move onto starting their GCSEs on Monday 3 July!
The audience were entertained by all Year 8 singing on stage, a rendition of ’Don’t Stop (Thinking About Tomorrow)’ by Fleetwood Mac, accompanied by our band on guitars, violins and more, as well as a ‘samba’ percussion ensemble that took some coordinating! Guests were entertained on arrival with a piano piece too by Sophia Mendoza and Jakob Yau. Thank you to Mrs Trenholm and Miss Mitchell for all your work preparing our young musicians, and your enthusiasm whilst conducting!
Students were welcomed onto stage to receive their Graduation certificates and souvenir booklets. Mrs Taylor, Chair of Governors, also spoke to students and the audience, before everyone toured student artwork, had celebratory cakes and Shloer, and posed for photographs with our official photographer, Ed Walker.
Official photographs from both days are now available from Paul Empson’s website via this link: http://photos.paulempson.co.uk/oabg-2017 by using the password

A special thanks to Mrs Reid, Learning Manager for Year 8, for all her hard work supporting students during the year, and those on the ‘Road to Graduation’. Likewise, a big thank you for organising Wednesday and Thursday’s events, and coordinating a fantastic team of staff who helped. Finally, thank you to our Student Voice hospitality students who were on hand to serve!
